This study is a paper that defines the space of Haedeungchon-myun Yangjumok Gyeonggi-do where Byeolseo of Cho Hyun-myung, a bureaucrat in the 18th century, was located as a political space. To this end, this study explains the aspect of setting up Byeolseo of Cho Hyun-myung and its use and aims to examine the meaning of space to Cho by analyzing the meaning of such an act. Furthermore, this study expands the discussion in a way of inferring the political meaning of the act of bureaucrats who established the base in Gyeonggi province, outside of the capital city. The bureaucrats in the latter part of the Joseon Dynasty set up Byeolseo in Gyeonggi province close to the capital and used it for residence and relaxation. The use of Byeolseo has been understood in the tendency of seclusion, which is post-political and post-secular. However, according to the analysis of Cho’s use of Byeolseo and its meaning, it can be said that the meaning of Byeolseo of the bureaucrats in the past was notably political. In addition, this study reveals that the act of seclusion cannot be seen as a concept of post-political or post-national.
