The bond characteristics of 2 types of glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) reinforcing bars with different shape of the surface deformation and manufacturing process according to bond length were studied experimentally. Shapes of the surface deformation were indented spirally and deformed. Indented GFRP rebars were made by pultusion processing and deformed GFRP rebars were fabricated by braidtrusion. All specimens were tested by direct pull-out.
From the test results, the average bond strength of the GFRP rebars was decreased as the bond length was increased. In addition the bond strength of the deformed GFRP rebar was higher than that of indented GFRP rebar.
