      ‘Tamalpais’ (Reg. No. CV‐367, PI 645477) is a six‐rowed, naked grained food/feed spring barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) released by the University of California Agricultural Experiment Station in 2008. It is medium maturing and medium‐short in height, with good straw strength. It has full, rough awns and good resistance to shattering. As a hull‐less (naked) feed/food barley, Tamalpais should appeal to growers of organic barley for human consumption as a whole grain in cereals, soups, and breads. Tamalpais is high in β‐glucan (>6%), a measure of soluble fiber, and may be useful in lowering human cholesterol levels. Other markets include the bird seed and pet food industries. It is resistant to leaf rust and powdery mildew, moderately resistant to scald, net blotch, and Barley yellow dwarf virus, and moderately susceptible to stripe rust. It was evaluated as Entry UC 1134 in the University of California Regional Cereal Testing program from 2004 to 2017 for late fall planting in the Central Valley and the south‐central coastal region of California.
