The purpose of this study is to excavate what kinds of issues affected on the support rates for the candidates during the 16th Presidential election period. We divide electoral issues into three categories: event-based issues, candidate's personality issues, and policy issues. We have a concern about the intensity and duration of those impacts. The findings are as follows: First, event-based issues and candidate's' personality issues have more influence on up and down of the voters' support rates for the candidates.; Second, impacts of the event-based issues are lasting shorter than those of policy issues and personality issues.; Third, events occurred in the election period produce new prevalent issues whose impacts are more crucial than any other policy issues on the support rate for the candidates. Every event conceives potential issues which nobody cannot have a disregard for. When they are shown up to the public, they give issue premium to the issue owner.; Fourth, candidate's personality issues are, in most cases, connected with negative campaign which has an explosive impact on the change in the support rates. As a result, the negative strategies are preferable to the positive strategies in the campaign period.; Fifth, policy issues have an influence only on the interest holders. That is to say, most voters are less interested in the policy issues than event-based issues and candidate's personalty issues.
