공연 각색의 재고를 위한 동시대적 고찰 = A contemporary consideration for the rethinking of the performance adaptation

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 오늘날 각색 연구가 수정이나 전환, 치환이라는 원작과 각색물의 이분법적 차이를 넘어 하나의현상으로써의 전방위적인 연구로 확장되고 있는 시점에서, 국내 공연 각색 연구가 아직 이런 시대적 흐름을 반영하지 못하고 있다는 한계점에 문제를 제기하고, 동시대 공연 각색의 의미를 재고하고자 하는 목적에서 출발했다. 이를 위해 국내외 각색 연구와 공연 각색 연구를 통시적으로 고찰, 비교하여 공연 각색 연구를 범주화하고, 각색의 의미를 임시적으로 재정의한다. 해외에서는 각색 연구의 지속적인 확장과 더불어 공연 각색 연구가내러티브, 미디어, 담론의 전환, 확장, 수용을 다루고 있으며, 나아가 새로운 담론을 수용하는 방식과 무대적인표현 양식까지도 연구 범위에 포함한다. 반면 국내 공연 각색 연구는 내러티브, 미디어, 담론에 대한 연구가있음에도 각색의 범주로 통합되지 못한 채 산발적으로 연구되고 있으며, 원작과 각색작의 비교를 통한 차이 연구에 집중되는 양상을 보인다. 따라서 본 연구는 오늘날 각색의 확장된 의미를 재고하여, 국내 공연 각색의 의미와 범주 역시 확장될 필요성이 있음을 지적하고자 한다. 향후 국내 공연 각색의 연구와 실천에 있어 다양한시각과 방식에 대한 변화의 가능성을 기대한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study raises a problem with the limitation that domestic performance adaptation research has not yet reflected this trend of the times. At the same time this study aims to reconsider the meaning of contemporary performance adaptations at a time when today's adaptation study is expanding beyond the dichotomous distinction between the original and adapted works, such as modifications, conversions, and substitutions, to a broader study of adaptations as a phenomenon. To this end, the study of performance adaptation is categorized and temporarily redefined by examining and comparing domestic and international adaptation studies and performance adaptation studies. Overseas, the study of adaptation continues to expand, and its scope includes theconversion, expansions, and adaptations of narratives, media, and discourses, as well as the ways in which new discourses are embraced and staged. On the other hand, domestic studies of performance adaptations are sporadic without integrating the study of narrative, media, and discourse, and focus on the study of differences through comparison between the original and the adaptation. Therefore, this study recognizes the expanded meaning of today's adaptation and emphasizes the need to expand the meaning and scope of domestic performance adaptation as well. Through this, we look forward to seeing a diversification of perspectives and methods in the research and practice of domestic theater adaptations.
