This thesis tries to view the various schools of thought in the Period of Warring States before Han Dynasty from the humanistic standpoint. The representative school of thought in that period are the Confucian principle of benevolence, the Mencius(孟子)´ ethical doctrine of human nature as fundamentally good, Xun-zi(荀子)´s doctrine that man´s inborn nature is bad, and Mo-zi(墨子)´'s principle of universal love. The main point of this study is that all these thoughts are based on the principle of humanism, which is unfolded in this study in detail. In addition to this, the humanistic behavior is defined through the varying example in Zuo qiu ming(左丘明)´s Zuo-Zhuan(左傳)
