The purpose of this thesis is to look into revised Mathematics textbooks in 2009 for the first-year high-school students and to analyze whether the textbooks properly incorporate curriculums which were revised in 2009 by The Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation (KICE). In this paper, I examined changes in 5 different revised Mathematics textbooks, especially focusing on proposition and set Unit and compare the 5 different textbooks by structural, content, and reflective characteristics.
The results from the study show that the revised textbooks in 2009 properly reflect structural and content characteristics, but inadequately incorporate reflective characteristic, which is emphasized by KICE.
This paper proposes how to improve the direction of developing curriculum of Mathematics textbooks and suggests how to enhance the direction of developing efficient teaching methods.
