Nuclear plant design and fatigue failure evaluation are based on the assumption that fatigue failure would not happen over 106 cycle. However, recent study on high circle fatigue test shows that fatigue failure occurs below fatigue limit stress of ASME code. In order to evaluate the fatigue limit of the future reactors, which have a designed life time of 60 years, it is necessary to develop stress-cycle curve for up to 1010 years.
In this study, high cycle fatigue test was performed on evaluation of fatigue limit of Mod. 9Cr-1Mo steel(T91) using ultrasonic waves, which was compared with the result of hydaulic fatigue machin. Also, we tried to find the optimum curve and define the fatigue limit.
