평생교육으로서의 대학확장교육에 관한 연구 = (A) Study on University Extension towards Lifelong Education

국문 초록 (Abstract)

오늘날 급변하는 사회속에서 우리나라의 대학은 부차적 기능으로서가 아니라 전체 체제에 통합된 일부 기능으로서 대학확장교육을 실시해야할 때가 왔다고 볼 수 있다.
본 연구의 목적은 平生敎育으로서의 大學擴張敎育을 활성화시키기 위한, 구체적 방안을 모색하려 하는데 있다.
이러한 목적으로 이 분야에 관련된 문헌 및 저술을 통하여 平生敎育의 이론적 배경과 大學擴張敎育의 이론 및 실제를 살펴 보았다.
平生敎育은 개인과 집단 모두의 生活의 質을 向上시키기 위하여 각 개인의 全生涯를 통하여 인격적, 사회적 및 직업적 발달을 성취시키는 과정이다. 또한 이것은 人生의 각 단계와 영역에서 가능한한 모든 형태의 형식적, 비형식적, 학습활동을 포함하는 복합적이고 종합적인 개념이다. 이러한 平生敎育은 현대에 꼭 필요한 개념이나 아직 우리나라에서는 그 체제가 정립되어 있지 않다.
그리고 大學擴張敎育은 평생교육의 이념에 따라 어떤 이유로든 대학에 진학하지 못하는 사람들에게 고등교육의 기회를 제공하는 것이며 또한 배우고자하는 모든 사람들에게 교육의 기회를 확대해 주는 것이다.
大學擴張敎育은 일반적으로 다음과 같은 형태를 취하고 있다.
첫째, 성인들에게 학위취득의 기회를 주는 학위프로그램
둘째, 개인의 교양수준을 높이는 교양프로그램
세째, 취업과 재교육을 위한 직업교육프로그램
네째, 지역사회에 대한 봉사를 위주로 하는 사회봉사프로그램
다음 실제면으로, 우리나라에서 지금 부분적으로 실시되고 있는 大學擴張敎育의 실정을 알고 그 문제점을 발견하고자 梨花女子大學校의 활동을 중심으로 大學擴張敎育의 實態를 살펴보았다.
이러한 조사 결과 특히 다음과 같은 문제점이 고려되었다.
첫째, 대학측의 大學擴張敎育프로그램에 대한 적극적인 홍보활동이 필요하다.
둘째, 교수의 大學擴張敎育에 대한 적극적인 활동이 있어야 하며 무엇보다도 대학의 총장 또는 학장이 大學擴張敎育에 관심을 갖고 이를 실천하려고 노력해야 한다.
세째, 大學擴張敎育의 발전을 위해 이를 전담하는 기구가 설치되어야 한다.
이러한 문제는 우선적으로 平生敎育體制가 정립되어야 이루어질 수 있으며 대학당국의 자체 제도개혁이 있어야하고 학습자의 적극적인 참여가 있어야 해결될 수 있다고 본다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

As the society is changing, University extension is to be not as the peripheral function of Univ. but as the integrated function of total system.
The purpose of this study is to suggest detailed scheme for promoting Univ. extension towards lifelong education.
For this object, the theoretical background of lifelong education and the theories and practices of University extension were reviewed through available literatures and documents in these field.
Lifelong education is a process of accomplishing personal, social and professional development throught the life-span of individuals in order to enhance the quality of life of both individuals and their collectives.
It is a comprehensive and unifying idea which includes formal, non-formal and informal.
Based on this idea of lifelong education, university extension represents the attempt to extend educational opportunities to all men and women, specially to those who for one reason or another, can not attend colleges and universities.
Generally, universities extension was classified as follows;
1. Extension program to give adults the opportunity of taking degree.
2. Lifelong learning program to raise the standard of individual common sense.
3. Carreer and professional program for job and re-education
4. Social service program to serve in community.
Next, to find out the status and problems of our university extension was studied the activities of Ewha Women's Univ..
In the result of this study, expecially, the problems considered are as follows
1. It is required for universities to take the positive PR activity for their university extension program.
2. It is required for faculty to participate in university extension program more actively. specially, it is required for president or dean of university to have an interest in university extension and to try to do it practically.
3. It is required for university to have its own independent Institute for university extension to develop.
Above all, after the system of lifelong education is formulated those problems can be solved.
Also the reform of university's own system and active participation of learner can solve those problems.
