해방적 관점에서 본 최한기 사상 = Liberating aspects in Choi Han-ki`s philosophy

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The boundary between Neo-Confucianism and Practical Thought in Joseon is determined by what the philosophical differences are. Normally, thoese differences which the academic community defines have been famed Gyeongsechiyong, Promotion of public welfare and Empirical tradition. Whereas, this study defines a new point of division between two of them showing how the moralism of Neo-Confucianism causes distress and how Choi Han-ki`` Practical Thought can liberate from those distress. However, the goal of this study is not suggesting an alternative boundary between the both sides, but just tries to proposes another valid way that is distress and liberation. That is why this study has the distinguishing meanings. The unified view in human which Choi Han-ki asserts denying apriority of human nature becomes the counterplan of Neo-Confucianism``s divided-self caused by the differential status in Li and Qi. Also, Choi Han-ki`` communicative theory in society explains only with Qi can be the counterplan of the repressive elements in Neo-Confucianism``s social norm based on the absolute position of Heaven and Saints. In Joseon, 19th century is a time of change and turbulence. Considering thoese historic circumstances, social norm should be enacted by all members of society, not by a few member such as Saints and king, in order to increase the liberty of all individuals. That is what the Choi Han-ki`` thought has differences against Neo-Confucianism.
