2015 개정 교육과정에 따른 초등학교 실과 교과서에 제시된 직업 분류 및 그 직업에 대한 초등학생의 이해도와 관심도 분석

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구의 목적은 2015 개정 교육과정에 따른 초등학교 5학년 실과 교과서에 제시된 직업들을 추출하여 분석하고, 이 직업에 대한 6학년 학생들의 이해도와 관심도를 분석하는데 있다. 이를 위해 양적 연구를 수행하였으며, 주요 연구 문제는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 한국고용직업분류를 기준으로 2015 개정 교육과정 초등학교 5학년 실과 교과서의 직업 빈도와 종류는 어떠한가?
둘째, 초등학교 5학년 실과 교과서의 직업에 대한 학생들의 이해도는 어떠한가?
셋째, 초등학교 5학년 실과 교과서의 직업에 대한 학생들의 관심도는 어떠한가?
연구의 목적을 달성하기 위하여 2015 개정 교육과정에 따른 초등학교 5학년 실과 교과서 6종을 분석 대상으로 하였으며, 직업은 교과서 본문의 내용과 읽기 자료, 삽화, 단원 마무리 등 모든 내용에 제시된 직업 중, 직업명이 명확하게 텍스트로 제시된 경우로 한정하였다. 그 결과, 166개의 직업이 추출되었으며 이를 바탕으로 한국고용직업분류에 근거하여 설문지를 구성한 후 4개의 권역별(수도권역, 중부권역, 경상권역, 전라권역)로 100명의 표본을 선정하여 설문조사를 진행하였다.
그 결과, 실과 교육과정의 ‘기술 활용’ 영역과 한국고용직업분류의 대분류에서 ‘4. 예술·디자인·방송·스포츠직’에 속한 직업 제시의 빈도가 현저히 높음을 알 수 있었으며, 한국직업능력연구원에서 조사한 ‘초·중등 진로교육 현황조사(2023)’에서 초등학생의 희망 직업 20순위에 해당하는 직업의 교과서 반영 비율을 살펴보았을 때, ‘크리에이터’를 제외한 모든 직업들이 교과서에 제시되고 있음을 확인하였다. 또한 학생들의 이해도와 관심도를 조사한 결과, 이해도가 평균(3점)보다 높은 직업은 83개였으나, 관심도가 평균(3점)보다 높은 직업은 ‘학교 교사’ 뿐임을 알 수 있었으며, 성별에 따른 학생들의 이해도(A)와 관심도(B)의 평균 차이(A-B)를 분석해보아도 관심도보다는 이해도가 높은 직업이 대부분인 것으로 파악되었다.
이 연구를 통해 실과 교육과정의 영역이나 한국고용직업분류의 대분류에 따른 직업을 고르게 선정하여 교과서에 제시해야 함으로써 다양한 직업에 대한 노출을 통하여 직업에 대한 폭넓은 지식을 경험함으로써 올바른 진로 탐색의 기회를 제공해주는 것이 중요성을 시사하였다. 또한 흥미는 사람의 행동을 결정하는데 중요한 역할을 하므로 학생들이 직업을 탐색함에 있어 스스로 무엇을 좋아하는지 파악할 수 있도록 효과적인 진로 교육을 계획할 필요가 있음을 논의하였다. 마지막으로 변화하는 시대의 흐름에 따른 학생들의 희망 직업 선호도 조사의 결과를 반영하여 교과서에 소개할 필요가 있음을 안내하였다.
이 연구는 성별에 따라 다르게 적용할 수 있는 진로교육의 방향 설정에 이바지하고자 하였으며, 이는 추후 교육과정 개정 및 진로 교육의 기초자료로 제공될 수 있을 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to extract and analyze the occupations presented in the Practical Arts textbooks for fifth-grade students under the 2015 Revised National Curriculum and to investigate sixth-grade students' understanding and interest in these occupations. To achieve this, a quantitative research approach was adopted, focusing on the following key research questions:
First, What are the frequency and types of occupations presented in the fifth-grade Practical Arts textbooks based on the Korean Standard Classification of Occupations?
Second, What is the level of students' understanding of the occupations presented in the textbooks?
Third, What is the level of students' interest in the occupations presented in the textbooks?
For the study, six fifth-grade Practical Arts textbooks under the 2015 Revised National Curriculum were analyzed. The scope of occupations was limited to those explicitly mentioned in the text, reading materials, illustrations, and unit summaries. A total of 166 occupations were identified. Based on these occupations, a survey was developed in accordance with the KSCO, and a sample of 100 students was selected from four regional zones (the capital region, central region, Gyeongsang region, and Jeolla region) for the survey.
The findings revealed that occupations categorized under the "Technology Utilization" area of the Practical Arts curriculum and the "4. Arts, Design, Broadcasting, and Sports Occupations" category of the KSCO were most frequently presented. Additionally, when comparing the occupations in the textbooks with the "Top 20 Desired Occupations for Elementary Students" identified in the 2023 Career Education Survey by the Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training, all but "Creator" were found in the textbooks.
Regarding students' understanding and interest, 83 occupations were rated above the average score (3 points) for understanding, while only "School Teacher" exceeded the average score for interest. Analysis of the differences in understanding (A) and interest (B) by gender also showed that understanding was generally higher than interest across most occupations.
This study emphasizes the importance of selecting and presenting a balanced range of occupations in the Practical Arts curriculum and textbooks, based on the curriculum domains and the KSCO categories. By exposing students to a diverse array of occupations, they can gain broad knowledge and explore career paths more effectively. Furthermore, since interest plays a critical role in shaping behavior, the study highlights the need for effective career education that helps students identify their preferences and interests.
Lastly, the study underscores the importance of incorporating findings from surveys on students' changing career preferences into textbook content. This research aims to contribute to the development of gender-responsive career education strategies and provides foundational data for future curriculum revisions and career education planning.
