위성정보 기반 사회문제 대응관련 국내외 동향

Korea successfully developed several satellites such as KOMPSAT(KOrea Multi-Purpose SATellite) series and COMS(Communication, Ocean, and Meteorological Satellite), and acquired core technologies of making hardware and software through these satellite development project. The value produced by satellite information is much more than the cost of satellite manufacturing. This paper describes the trend on domestic and international solution for social issues based on satellite information. The present status of satellite information-based solution for social issues of the United States, Europe, and Japan are reviewed. In particular, Copernicus program of Europe, SERVIR(an acronym meaning “to serve” in Spanish) of United States, and ALOS(Advanced Land Observing Satellite) solution of Japan are described. Finally, the GOLDEN(GIS, Ocean, Land, Disaster, Environment, National security) solution, which is a satellite information-based solution for social issues in Korea is reviewed. Based on these analyses, the better way will be sought to improve the utilization of satellite information resources in Korea.
