소셜 미디어 시대와 선거의 변화: 인터넷 팟캐스트 ‘나는 꼼수다’의 대학생 정치참여 효과를 중심으로 = Social Media Age and the Changes in Election

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to examine and analyze the effects that the popular political internet podcast program titled “Naneun Ggomsuda”(hereinafter referred to as “Naggomsu”) has on the political participation of college students. This study attempts to analyze the characteristics of the political participation of college students that listen to Naggomsu by conducting a survey for college students in Seoul after the Seoul mayor election held on October 26, 2011. A quantitative statistical analysis method was applied as the research method for this study.
Although the study was limited to the college student group, the results showed that, first, the podcast Naggomsu had a statistical significance on the college student group’s determination to vote or selection of the supported candidate. Second, the college student group displayed a stronger effect of self-reinforcement regarding their chosen candidate as such group listened to Naggomsu. Thirdly, despite of Naggomsu’s positive effects on the group’s political participation, the results showed that it caused the polarization of like-minded groups and a distorted sense of fandom rather than creating and developing an area for the public to voice their opinions

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 정치 인터넷 팟캐스트로 대중적인 인기를 끌고 있는 ‘나는 꼼수다(이하나꼼수)’의 청취가 대학생 집단의 정치참여에 미치는 영향을 분석하고자 하는 연구이다. 논문은 2011년 10.26 서울시장 선거가 끝난 후, 서울지역 대학생들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여 대학생집단의 나꼼수 청취와 정치참여 행태의 특성을 살펴보고자 했다. 설문조사는 2011년 11월 1일부터 4일까지 4일간 수행되었으며530명의 대학생들을 대상으로 실시되었다. 분석결과, 첫째, 대학생 집단에 한정된결과이기는 하지만, 팟캐스트 나꼼수 청취가 투표참여와 지지후보의 결정에 통계적인 유의미성이 있는 것으로 확인되었다. 둘째, 대학생 집단은 나꼼수를 청취할수록지지후보에 대한 강화효과가 강력한 것으로 도출되었다. 셋째, 반면에 이러한 나꼼수의 정치참여효과가 공론장의 영역으로 발전하기 보다는 왜곡된 팬덤과 끼리끼리(like-minded) 집단의 분극화(polarization)에 대한 우려도 확인했다.
