전시 정책보고서로서의 『국화와 칼』 = The Chrysanthemum and the Sword : Patterns of Japanese Culture as the policy report during the war

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

As stated, existing studies that focused on just the perspective of cultural theory like the patterns of Japanese culture or ethical virtues can’t explain the meaning of The Chrysanthemum and the Sword : Patterns of Japanese Culture. And on this stance, I dismantled and reorganized the existing discourse of The Chrysanthemum and the Sword : Patterns of Japanese Culture as a policy report during the war focusing on the purpose.
To achieve this, I had to investigate the anti-cultural relativism of The Chrysanthemum and the Sword and determine the meanings of The Chrysanthemum and the Sword as a main title and Patterns of Japanese Culture as a subtitle.
As a result, The Chrysanthemum and the Sword : Patterns of Japanese Culture is a masterwork of discourses on japanese culture as a classic, and concurrently it is the first anthropology work that made a crucial contribution on the US’s global strategy after the second world war opening the first scene of area studies.
