K-좀비에 나타난 그로테스크 미학 연구 - 넷플릭스 드라마 ‘킹덤’과 ‘지금 우리 학교는’ 중심으로-

국문 초록 (Abstract)

넷플릭스에서 공개된 드라마 ‘킹덤’과 ‘지금 우리 학교는’은 전 세계 독자들에게 ‘K-좀비’라는 독특한 장르적 소재의 특성과 독창적인 그로테스크(Grotesque) 미학으로 큰 인기를 끌었다. 이른바 K-좀비물이라 불리는 이 장르는 그로테스크 미학을 표현하는데 역동적인 공간과 혼란 속에서 무질서를 반기고 다변적 변화생성의 캐릭터와 사건 속에서 발생하는 생경한 정서가 그 특징이라 할 수 있다. 그중 본 연구의 중심이 되는 드라마 ‘킹덤’과 ‘지금 우리 학교는’은 그로테스크의 특성 중 카니발적 세계와 유머에 대한 연구를 진행하기에 적합하다. 우선, 드라마 ‘킹덤’에서 보여지는 카니발적 세계는 관객에게 생경함의 정동을 선사하며 호기심과 몰입감을 선사한다. 좀비라는 생경한 신체로 체제와 제도가 전복이 된 난장(亂場)의 세계는 다른 세계를 향한 생성적 욕망을 자극하기 때문이다. 또한, 학원 좀비물인 ‘지금 우리 학교는’에서는 기대위반, 모순, 기이한 형상, 풍자 등으로 그로테스크한 유머를 발생시킨다. 이 유머 속에는 제도와 사회를 비트는 전복의 개념과 인간 존엄에 대한 숭고가 있다. 이렇듯 그로테스크 안에서의 유머는 긍정적이고 세상의 고통을 우회하게 하는 진보적 에너지가 있다. 이제 K-좀비는 단순히 전염병에 걸려 세계를 파괴 시키려고 하는 존재가 아니라 체제를 전복시키고 계급에 저항하는 세력이며 새로운 인류이자 정치적 주체라 할 수 있을 것이다.

The dramas ‘Kingdom’ and ‘All of us are Dead’ released on Netflix were very popular with people around the world for their unique genre of K-Zombie and original grotesque aesthetics. This genre, so-called K-zombie, expresses grotesque aesthetics, which creates disorder in dynamic space and confusion, and is characterized by strange emotions that occur in various characters and events
The dramas ‘Kingdom’ and ‘All of us are Dead’, which are the center of this study, are suitable for conducting research on the carnival world and humor among the characteristics of Grotesque.
First of all, the carnival world shown in the drama ‘Kingdom’ gives the audience a feeling of curiosity and immersion. This is because the chaotic world in which the system has been overthrown by the unfamiliar body of zombies stimulates the generative desire for another world.
In addition, in the school zombie drama ‘All of us are Dead’, grotesque humor is generated by violation of expectations, contradictions, bizarre shapes, and satire. In this humor, there is the concept of subversion that twists the system and society and the sublime of human dignity. Humor in grotesque is positive and there is a progressive energy that bypasses the pain of the world. Now, K-zombies are not just infectious and trying to destroy the world, but they are forces that overthrow the system and resist class, and they are a new human and political entity.
