Five inbred lines developed by the single seed descent method and their 10 F₁ hybrids of radish by the half diallel cross were cultivated in summer season.
The results of estimated heterosis, combining ability and correlation between 8 characters are summerised as follows :
1. Heterosis was significant at the 1% level for 6 characters, especially high for root weight(146%), leaf weight(52.6%) and index of virus susceptibility(-51.2%).
2. GCA effect was significant for all characters except root diameter and susceptibility of soft rot. SCA effect was significant for root length and leaf length.
3. Root weight was correlated with leaf length, root length and diameter. Susceptibility of virus and soft rot was not correlated with any other character.
