SNS 이용과 대인커뮤니케이션이 문화적응 스트레스에 미치는 영향: 사회비교의 매개효과를 중심으로 = SNS use, Interpersonal Communication and Acculturation Stress: Focusing on the mediated effect of social comparison

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 한국 내 중국인 유학생을 대상으로 SNS 이용과 대인커뮤니케이션 수준이 문화적응 스트레스와 관련되는지를 살펴보고, 특히 SNS의 사회비교 속성을 고려하여 사회비교 성향이 SNS 이용과 문화적응 스트레스 관련성에 매개효과를 가지는지 탐색하였다. 이를 위해 온라인 서베이를 통해 얻은 중국인 유학생 194명의 응답을 분석하였다. 연구결과, 첫째로 SNS 이용과 문화적응 스트레스의 관계는 통계적으로 유의미하지 않았다. 둘째, 중국인 유학생의 대인커뮤니케이션과 문화적응 스트레스의 관계에서는 한국인과의대인커뮤니케이션은 문화적응 스트레스를 줄여주는 것으로 나타난 반면, 중국인과의 대인커뮤니케이션은 통계적으로 유의미하지 않았고, 제3국인과의 소통은 영향이 미미하였다. 셋째, SNS를 많이 이용할수록 사회비교 경향성도 높은 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 사회비교 경향성이 높은 집단은 한국 문화적응 과정에서 스트레스를 더 많이 받는 것으로나타났다. 다섯째, SNS 이용과 한국 문화적응 스트레스의 관계에 있어 사회비교 경향성이 매개효과를 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 외국인 유학생의 한국 문화적응에 대한 이해와 적응 프로그램 개발에 활용될 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study examined the relationship between SNS use and cultural adaptation stress at the level of interpersonal communication for Chinese students in Korea. In particular, considering the social and comparative properties of SNS, it was investigated whether social comparison propensity has a mediating effect on the relationship between SNS use and cultural adaptation stress. To this end, the responses of 194 Chinese students obtained through an online survey were analyzed. As a result of the study, first, the relationship between SNS use and cultural adaptation stress was not statistically significant. Second, in the relationship between interpersonal communication and cultural adaptation stress of Chinese students, interpersonal communication with Koreans was found to reduce cultural adaptation stress, whereas interpersonal communication with Chinese was not statistically significant, and communication with third countries had little impact. Third, the more SNS was used, the higher the social comparison tendency was. Fourth, the group with a high social comparison tendency was found to receive more stress in the process of adapting to Korean culture. Fifth, it was found that social comparison tendency had a mediating effect on the relationship between SNS use and Korean cultural adaptation stress. The results of this study can be used to understand foreign students' adaptation to Korean culture and to develop adaptation programs.
