This study analyzed domestic and international studies on family support in the early screening and diagnosis process of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and sought to explore the practice and research direction of family support in the screening and diagnosis process. A total of 23 studies on family support in early screening and diagnosis process of ASD published between 2013 and 2022 were selected and analyzed in terms of overall study characteristics, family support needs, and support implementation during the process. The results were as follows. First, 13 articles dealt with the ASD diagnosis process, while 10 articles dealt with both the screening and diagnosis processes or only the screening process. Second, informational and practical needs were the most common among the needs of families going through the ASD screening and diagnosis process. Third, eight of the selected studies actually supported families during the early screening and diagnosis process, and while improving understanding of ASD was a common intervention, the specific interventions varied across studies. Based on these findings, implications for practices and directions for further studies were suggested.
