This study introduced the operation overview of the program lecture “Korean Practical Writing Examination (KPWE)” carried out by Dongguk University Gyeongju Campus and its operational performance. On this basis, the primary objective of this study is to seek an efficient scheme of operating method of ‘KPWT preparation class.’Since October 2011, Dongguk University Gyeongju Campus started the operation of KPWT preparation class and the second session was carried out in the winter semester of the same year. From 2012 onward, KPWT preparation class was operated every semester and as of the 1st semester of 2014, the 7th session is being in progress. ‘KPWT preparation class’ recruits students at the beginning of the semester, and there are three times of short-answer question and multiple choice classes per week. And additional clinic is provided for short-answer questions if necessary. Students can develop job capacity by acquiring proper writing for practices through ‘KPWT preparation class.’ In addition, they can improve personal competitiveness by acquiring national certified qualification. In particular, the fact that the writing efficacy of participating students increases demonstrates that KPWT preparation class plays an important role in improving students’ efficacy, and also contributing to the improvement of function, reputation, interest and anxiety. This also means that it was made possible by the overall even increase of capacity of KPWT preparation class. Accordingly, if KPWT preparation class is intensified continually, it could maximize writing education performance and realize high level education.
The number of student who passed the test for the 6 sessions until the last year was 320 out of 362. The overall pass rate is 88.4%. Such high pass rate was made possible because various textbooks and operating methods were used in the course of 6 sessions. It is necessary to prepare the foundation of suitable and systematic writing skills by analyzing needs of students who are consumers. Furthermore, if the class is integrated to <Writing> subject, it may greatly contribute to the curriculum development of writing with practical views.
