상담자의 애착유형과 공감능력: 초심상담자와 경력상담자와의 비교를 통해서 = The Relationship between Counselor’s Attachment Type and Empathy: through the Comparison of Novice Counselors and Seasoned Counselors

This research investigated the relationship between counselor’s attachment type (attachment anxiety and avoidance) and empathy through the comparison of novice counselors and seasoned counselors. Psychological counselors who had practical experience at various counseling centers located in Seoul and Gyeonggi areas participated in the survey for this research. Total 274 were analysed using SPSS version 22.0, and used a correlation and multiple regression analyses to estimate the relationships between research variables. The results were as follows: First, attachment anxiety and avoidance of novice counselors were significant associated with novice counselors’ empathy in counseling process. Novice counselors’ attachment anxiety had positive correlations with empathy, whereas attachment avoidance had negative correlations with novice counselors’ empathy. Secondly, in seasoned counselors, attachment anxiety was not significantly associated with seasoned counselor’s empathy, however, attachment avoidance had negative correlations with seasoned counselor’s empathy. From research findings, the meanings of the results, implications, and interventions to improve counseling alliance with counselor and client, by means of counselors therapeutic factors, were discussed.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 초심상담자와 경력상담자와의 비교를 통해서, 상담자의 애착유형이 상담과정에서의 내담자를 향한 공감능력에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 알아보고자 하였다. 서울 및 경기 지역에 소재하는 상담지원복지센터, 사설상담센터, 각 학교 부설상담실 등에서 상담관련 대학원 졸업 후 상담경력을 가지고 있는 상담자를 대상으로 실시된 설문조사 후, 총 274부를 분석에 사용하였다. 상담자의 애착유형과 공감능력간의 관계를 살펴보기 위해서 상관분석과 다중회귀분석을 사용하였으며 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 초심상담자의 경우, 상담자의 두 애착유형인 애착불안과 애착회피 모두 초심상담자의 공감능력에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 초심자의 애착불안의 경우, 공감능력에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 반면, 초심자의 애착회피는 상담자의 공감능력에 부정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 둘째, 경력상담자의 경우, 애착불안은 경력상담자의 공감능력에 유의미한 영향을 미치지 못하였고, 애착회피만 공감능력에 부적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 본 연구의 시사점과 제한점을 논하였다.
