문서 행정으로 본 적상산사고 선원각의 초기 양상 = The Initial Aspects of Seonwongak at Mt. Jeoksang Sago in terms of Documentary Administration

Jongbusi (Court of the Royal Clan) of the Late Joseon Dynasty was responsible for the compiling and publishing of Seonwonbocheop (genealogical documents of the royal family) as well as the enshrining and managing it in Seonwongak (building for storing Seonwonbocheop). The system for managing the Seonwonbocheop enshrined in the Seonwongak was a cycle including the enshrining of the documents, drying of the enshrined documents, and repairing of the Seonwongak. The basic system for enshrining and managing the Seonwonbocheop was shared by Oisago (archives of historical books located outside the capital) but slightly different, depending on the local conditions and the establishment time of the Oisago.
This paper examined the initial aspects of Seonwongak at Mt. Jeoksang Sago in terms of documentary administration. The Seonwonbocheop prepared in November 1639 by copying the books stored in Mt. Taebaek Sago (one of the abovementioned Oisago) was firstly enshrined into the Seonwongak located at the Mt. Jeoksang Sago in November 1641. When enshrining the prepared the Seonwonbocheop every three years, Jongbusi corrected the errors in the previously enshrined Eochep (simplified genealogical documents of the royal family) and the Seonwonbocheop or supplemented the details.
In preparation of the travel toward the Seonwongak located at the Mt. Jeoksang Sago for the enshrining, Jongbusi sent to the competent local government offices Gamgyeol(甘結), Gwanmun(關文) or Seonmun(先文) to prepare the travel according to the schedule. The accident that happened in 1648 at the Seonwongak located at the Mt. Jeoksang Sago was one that never happened at other Sago. The background and handling of the accident were revealed through the Hyeongjian (investigation report).
