This thesis referred to the comparative study between two leading automotive companies of Toyota and Hyundai-Kia which could represent as Japanese and South Korean company. Concretely, the common features was strongly extracted that a few number of person had decision power for personnel affairs further that regarding appointment of the young officers(Top managements being conservative for selection of the young competent officers in Toyota, while on the other hand since chairman was positive in promoting the young in case of Hyundai but its real aim was to strengthen the chairman`s authority ). Furthermore differences became clear that the posts of officers had been changed frequently to strengthen the chairman`s authority and that some officers were appointed to take their posts in only a short period of time to fulfill their satisfaction In addition, on the earlier literatures there were a few investigation reports, or enlightenment books which referred influence of top management`s in personnel affairs. Moreover, it had only indicated that Japanese companies had bottom-up style and the South Korean which ones had top-down style for the role of top manager`s in the past of comparative studies of companies in general or automobile companies. As opposed to these, the originality of this research can be shown by indicating the top-down tendency in Toyota which was typical Japanese company and by extracting uniqueness in Hyundai-Kia which took into consideration pride of the officers and the absoluteness of the chairman`s authority at the same time.
