Pneumatic fitting is one of the important parts for pneumatic system. Flexible tube which supplies operating fluid to valve or actuator can be easily connected to the one-touch type pneumatic fitting. Pneumatic fitting is composed of sleeve, collar, lock-claws and packing. Recently, the fatigue fracture of lock-claws has been reported due to the repetitive usage. Therefore, in this study, in order to predict the behavior of lock-claws, finite element simulation was carried out. As a result, the local plastic deformation at the notch of lock-claws was appeared. In order to disperse stress concentration, design modification of lock-claws was conducted and the stress concentration decreased. In addition, Main design variables were selected for the shape optimization of lock-claws, and the optimum condition was resulted using Taguchi method.
