Direct Torque Control(DTC) has become popular in induction motor drives. Induction motor drive based on direct torque control allows high dynamic performance to be obtained with very simple hysteresis control scheme. Drawbacks of the conventional DTC are relatively high torque ripple at low speed and variation of the switching frequency according to motor speed.
In this paper, the new direct torque control schemes are proposed. Those schemes are based on the torque slope and flux slope and enable to reduce the torque ripple and maintain the switching frequency constantly.
The proposed control topology, simulation experimental data and test results with hysteresis band DTC and DTC by flux and torque slope are given and discussed. It is concluded that the proposed control topology produces better results for dynamic operation than the conventional DTC.
