For as long as it is a voluntary activity, tourism itself is not internally or externally vulnerable to security problems. Studies have focused on how travelers are victimized in particular destinations. This paper sought to investigate the impact of terrorism on world tourism with respect to the magnitude of its effects and the period of recovery. An intervention analysis revealed that the September 11 terrorist attack caused an approximately 1,370 drop in visitation directly after the disaster, and it will take at least three years of restoration to get over the shock. The author suggests policy arrangement during such crisis caused by security.
