칼빈의 하나님 나라 신학 연구 = A Study on Calvin’s Theology about the Kingdom of God

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper studies the theology of the Kingdom of God(Regnum Dei) presented by Calvin. First of all, major researches conducted on this subject since the 1990s reveal that further studies are necessary in regard to the interrelationships of the Two Kingdoms and the structural character of the Kingdom of God in Calvin are necessary. In order to understand Calvin's theology of the Kingdom of God, it is significant to investigate the relationship between God's spiritual and political rules. Based on God's twofold reign, Calvin understands the Kingdom of God spiritually from the inner aspect of forgiveness of the sins and salvation. In addition, from the external standpoint, Calvin relates the Kingdom of God to the human society and creation in the concentric structure.
Most of all, Calvin explains that the Kingdom of Christ is forgiveness of the sins, salvation, and life in Christ. Calvin thoroughly excludes seeking this Kingdom of Christ from the theocratic state or the institutions in the society. He connects it closely with the church governed through the Word of Christ.
However, according to Calvin, even though Christians are spiritually saved, they live in this world as pilgrims with the eschatological perspective in the presence of the Kingdom of God. Calvin argues that God governs the political life by appointing the government ruler of the state as God’s deputies.
In this context, it is emphasized that Christians must obey the state. However, if this state is not in harmony with God's will, Calvin did not hesitate to opens the possibility of disobeying it.
Calvin further interprets the Kingdom of God in the macroscopic standpoint of the universe and creation. Calvin declares that God is the King of the universe and overthrows it. God rules over his creation in providence. After setting the limits of human life, God entrusted man with the mission to protect it.
As a conclusion, it would be appropriate to argue that Calvin's theology of the Kingdom of God must be interpreted in the relationship between the spiritual Kingdom, which is personally related to forgiveness of sins and salvation, and the political Kingdom that proceeds in the relationship between human social life and the state. Further, in Calvin the Kingdom of God is understood in the perspective of the universal reign of God.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 칼빈이 제시하는 하나님 나라 신학을 연구한다. 먼저 이 주제로 1990년대 이후 서양권에서 진행된 주요 연구들은 칼빈이 말하는 두 왕국의 상호 관계성과 하나님 나라의 구조적인 성격에 대한 연구가 필요함을 드러낸다. 칼빈의 하나님 나라 신학을 이해하기 위해서는 하나님의 영적인 통치와 정치적 통치의 이중의 통치와 그 상호 관계성 규명이 중요하다. 하나님의 이중의 통치에 근거해서 칼빈은 하나님의 나라를 영적으로 죄용서와 구원이라는 내적인 측면에서 시작해서, 외적으로 인간 사회와 창조 세계라는 동심원적 구조 속에서 이해하고 있다. 우선적으로 칼빈은 그리스도의 나라는 그리스도 안에서 얻는 죄용서와 구원과 생명이라고 설명한다. 칼빈은 이 그리스도의 나라를 신정적인 국가나 세상의 제도에서 구하는 것을 철저하게 배제하면서, 그것을 그리스도의 말씀을 통해서 지배되는 교회와 밀접하게 연결시킨다.
그러나 칼빈에 의하면 그리스도인은 영적으로 구원을 받았다 하더라도 하나님 나라의 현재성 안에서 이 세상에서 종말론적 나그네의 삶을 살아간다. 칼빈은 하나님은 국가의 지도자를 대리 통치자로 세워서 정치적 삶을 통치하신다고 주장한다. 이런 맥락에서 그리스도인들은 국가에 복종해야 한다고 강조한다. 그러나 만약 이 국가가 하나님의 뜻과 부합되지 않는다면, 칼빈은 국가에 불순종할 수 있는 가능성을 열어놓고 있다.
칼빈은 더 나아가 하나님 나라를 우주와 창조 세계라는 거시적 측면에서 해석하고 있다. 칼빈은 하나님께서는 전 우주를 굴복시키며 우주를 다스리는 왕이시라 선언한다. 하나님은 자신의 창조 세계를 다스리시며 섭리로 통치하신다. 하나님은 인간의 삶의 한계를 정한 후에 인간에게 생명을 보호할 사명을 위임하셨다. 그러므로 칼빈의 하나님 나라 신학은 안으로는 개인적인 죄용서 및 구원과 관계되는 영적인 나라와, 밖으로는 인간의 사회적 삶과 국가와의 관계속에서 진행되는 정치적인 나라와의 관계 속에서 해석되어야 하며, 궁극적으로는 하나님의 우주적 통치의 전망 속에서 이해되어야 한다.
