SCM (Supply Chain Management) has been one of the most widely discussed information system issues in the 2008s. In recent years, increasing attention has been paid on building a successful partnership between buyers and sellers of SCM. This study explores the factors that influence successful SCM partnerships. Based on Henderson's six partnership related variables, a causal model of SCM success is proposed where mutual profit sharing, mutual unity, and trust are introduced as partnership context variables, and information sharing, co-dependency, and participation in decision making are introduced as partnership action variables. The model is tested empirically using a sample of 280 organizations that have used SCM. The findings indicate that the proposed causal model has significant paths and power in evaluating the relationship between partnership quality and SCM success.
