The purpose of this study is to verify the mediating effect of the tenacity on the relationship between perceived coaching type and perceived performance. The subjects were 216 college athletes participating in the 45th National Taekwondo Championships in 2018. These subjects completed the questionnaires to measure autonomy supportive coaching behaviors, controlling coaching behaviors, tenacity and perceived performance. The major findings were as follow. First, autonomy supportive coaching and controlling coaching did not significantly affect perceived performance. Second, autonomy supported coaching showed a positive(+) effect on toughness, competition, and self-confidence, controlling coaching showed a significant negative(-) impact on the victory. Third, fighting spirit and self-confidence significant positive(+) influence on perceived performance. Fourth, Autonomy Supportive coaching showed spirit and self-confidence indirect effect.
