탈국경화 시대의 역사 교육 = 세계사교육을 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

지구화, 세계화라는 현상과 이주민의 증가는 사회 내 많은 모습들의 변화를 초래한다. 한국 역시 이미 이주민의 숫자가 백만을 넘어서고 국가적인 정책도 다문화사회를 지향하고 있다. 이런 현상들은 국가적인 경계의 정치, 경제적 의미나 심리적인 의미의 약화를 가져왔으며 그런 이유에서 이는 탈국경화 현상이라 명명할 수 있다. 탈국경화 현상은 사회의 모습을 급격하게 변화시키고 있으며 특히 이주민의 증가는 사회 내에 새로이 해결해야 할 적지 않은 과제들을 발생시키는데 특히 이런 문제에 민감하게 반응하는 것은 교육계이다. 이는 이주민의 증가를 기본적으로 유입국사회에 대한 이주민의 적응과 동화의 필요와 연결시키는 관점에서 기인하는 것이며 현재 한국사회의 이주문제와 관련된 교육은 이런 수준에 머물러 있다. 그러나 교육은 보다 근본적인 변화를 필요로 하며 특히 교과교육 차원에서 좀 더 진지한 고민과 노력이 필요하며 특히 역사교과의 경우 그러하다. 그 이유는 국민국가의 국경과 역사학, 그리고 역사교육은 매우 밀접한 연관관계를 갖고 있기 때문이다. 지난 2세기 간의 근대시기에 인간의 활동영역으로서 당연시된 국민국가라는 국경이 더 이상 과거와 같은 의미를 갖고 있지 못한 시대가 도래한 오늘날, 국민국가적인 틀에서 시작되고 발전된 역사학과 역사교육의 패러다임의 변화가 필요하다. 이 패러다임을 세계사에 대한 구체적인 교육내용들 속에 어떻게 반영할 수 있는 지에 대하여 살펴보았다. 그리고 구체적으로 어떤 역사교육이 탈국경화 시대의 패러다임에 적합할 지에 대한 몇 가지 제안을 하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Globalization and Internationalization coupled with increasing migration result in many changes in the society. Korea is not an exception as it finds the number of immigration exceeds 1 million and adopts its national policy focusing on multi-cultural society. These changes have weakened political, economic and psychological meanings of nation with boundaries. That’s why it can be called as ‘transnational trend’.
Transnational trend have dramatically changed social aspect. In particular, increasing number of migrants cause numerous issues to solve in the society. And the education area is the one which is very sensitive to these issues. This basically results from the perspective to connect adaptation of migrants with the need of synchronization. Currently, the education associated with the immigration issue in the Korean Society remains in such a level.
However, education needs more fundamental change and more efforts and consideration should be given from curriculum level. In particular, the history education curriculum needs the most because it is closely related to people nation’s boundary and history study. For the last two centuries, people nation’s boundary has been taken for granted as human beings’ activity area in the modern history. Now, it doesn’t have same meaning like the past. That’s why there should be paradigm shift in history study and history education which started and developed within the frame of people nation.
I have studied on how this paradigm could be reflected in specific education about world history. Also, I made several suggestions what kind of history education would be suitable in paradigm in the transnational era.
