팔사파자공독(八思巴字公牘)의 몽고어(蒙古語)와 백화직역(白話直譯)에 대한 대조연구(對照硏究) = A Contrastive Study of Mongolian Language and Spoken Chinese of Direct Ttranslation Style in Yuan Dynasty`s Phags-pa Text

국문 초록 (Abstract)

元代白話는 몽골어에 대한 直譯體라는 특징이 있다. 이러한 직역체 백화를 연구함에 있어 가장 일차적인 텍스트는 몽골어 원문과 원대 및 명대 초기의 백화 對譯文이 동시에 제공되어 있는 파스파 문헌 및 『元朝秘史』 등의 자료를 꼽을 수 있다. 현존하는 파스파 문헌은 일부의 사례를 제외하면 종교단체에 특혜 사항을 포고하는 동시에 해당 종교의 충성을 요청하는 관방문서이므로, 대략 통칭하여 “公牘”이라 부를 수 있다. 그런데 이러한 公牘을 하사받은 각 종교단체는 이러한 공독을 비석에 새겨 게시하였는데, 그 형식은 ① 몽골어 원문만 석각 ② 漢語(白話와 古文포함)로만 석각 ③ 몽골어 원문과 백화 대역문의 동시 석각 등 세 종류가 존재한다. 이들 중 세 번째 형식은 원문과 번역문을 하나의 비석에서 위아래, 혹은 앞뒤에 병기하는 것이므로 여타의 직역문 보다 가장 축자적 직역에 가까우며, 모두 20편이존재한다. 그런데 지금까지의 연구는 대체로 직역체 백화에 보이는 생경한 표현이 몽골어의 어떤 어구에서 비롯된 것인지, 해당하는 몽골어 원문을 제공하는 것에 치중되어 있었다. 그러나 직역체라고 해도 器械性에는 정도성이 있게 마련이며, 번역자들은 원문을 축자적으로 직역해야 한다는 원칙과 중국어 화자들이 받아들일 수있는 범위 내에서 고민을 할 수 밖에 없었다. 따라서 실제 가장 축자적으로 직역이 이루어진 위 ③ 유형의 석각문에서도 직역의 여러 가지 스펙트럼이 나타난다. 이 글은 ③ 유형의 파스파 석각문을 대상으로, 이른바 직역문이 보이는 여러 가지 번역법및 몽골어 원문과 비교했을 때 비직역적 요소들이 얼마나 되는지 살펴본 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Spoken Chinese of Yuan Dynasty is marked by direct translation style of Mongolian Text; so it is called direct translation style spoken Chinese. Phags-pa Texts and 『Yuan Chao Mi Shu』are the most important texts in this field, because they have original Mongolian and its paginal translation by Spoken Chinese. In most existing cases, Phags-pa Texts were official documents, which had issued preferential treatment for religious organizations even though they had mentioned some demands for allegiance at the same time. So many of religious organizations who was awarded these documents, erected memorial stones in order to put up. There were three types of carving for memorial stones : ① just Mongolian ② just Chinese ③ Monglian+Chinses. Today, Just 20 pieces of the third group is existing, and the degree of word-for-word correspondence in translation is the most obvious. In most cases, previous studies have given attention to find out which is original Mongolian text for some awkward direct translational spoken Chinese. However, so-called word-for-word translation can`t always one-to-one match between original Mongolian and Chinese, and the way of translation differ from individual to individual. To the translator, word- for-word translation is a principle, but they must think carefully about the acceptable bounds for Chinese. So even in the third group, expressions of translation are very various. It represented that direct translational spoken Chinese was close to actual spoken Chines.
