This study was conducted to understand the difference in health behavior, quality of life, and depression symptoms of the elderly living alone without a family. Using the data of the 2020 survey on the elderly, the data of 124 elderly people living alone without a spouse over 65 years of age and without a family were analyzed. As a result, in terms of health behavior, the subjective health status was 1.61 times higher in the elderly living alone participating in social activities than the non-participating elderly. In the area of life satisfaction, the satisfaction of social, leisure, culture, and activities of the elderly living alone participating in social activities was 3.55 times (p<0.046) higher than that of the non-participating elderly. In terms of the sum of life satisfaction, the elderly who participated in social activities were 1.13 times higher than the elderly living alone who were miserable in social activities, and the depression status was 0.87 times lower in the elderly living alone who participated in social activities than the non-participating elderly. Therefore, the participation of the elderly living alone in social activities can be used as a factor to improve social, psychological, and mental health. Therefore, it is necessary to develop programs and strengthen projects so that the elderly can participate in social activities in the local community so that the elderly living alone without a family can actively participate in social activities.
