This article attempts to analyse the change of transmission process and subject of Tongje in the modernization process after 1960ties in Korea. The modernization process in Korea has changed the traditional ways of life radically. However this changing process was not a analysis point of many articles of the folklore. In the study of the Tongje this tendency is also observed, And the state has played very important role in the transmission process of Tonrje in Korea, which was not enough considered till now by the folklorists.
From the I960ties to 1970ties the cultural policy to the traditional culture was ambivalent. On the one side the state has salvaged the disappearing folklore and encouraged the traditional culture through the policy of the preserving of the intangible cultural heritage. On the other side the cultural policy has destroyed the traditional cultural heritage under the name of superstition. Thereafter the many Tongjes were disappeared in the 1970es. In the 1990es the state has found the traditional value in the Tongje that can be offered as tourist goods and used as tool of the integration of the regional people. It is nowadays no more the superstition and is a symbol of the region that argue that it has a long tradition. In this point the stare is to analyse as a important subject of the transmission of Tongje.
Tongje is constituted in the result of the negotiation of the diverse interest groups of the village. The village population can be divided by gender, class and generation. The women are more important in the transmission of the Tongje, because the confucian ideology is weaker in the process of the modernization. But it is not sure that the younger generation can know and transmit the value of Tongje.
