Electrical stimulation at 5 Hz and 50 Hz frequency increased the temperature more
significantly at LI 4 (Hegu) compared with LI 11 (Quchi) indicating that heat was
transferred from the distal (LI 4) to proximal (LI 11) region for the Large Intestine
meridian. Temperature changes in response to photo stimulation were not as large as
those of electrical stimulation. Accommodation was observed only after 30 min of photo
stimulation, which indicates that critical threshold level necessary for continuous
response in nerves and muscles was attained at a slower rate compared with electrical
stimulation.
