척추외과에서의 근거중심의학 = Evidence Based Medicine in Spine Surgery

Study Design: A review of literature regarding evidence-based medicine in spinal surgery.
Objectives: To understand the philosophy of evidence-based medicine (EBM) in order to support clinical decision making.
Summary of Literature Review: Evidence-based medicine is a commonplace phrase representing the hallmark of excellence in clinical practice. However, there has been misunderstanding and indiscriminate use of the concept of EBM in clinical practice. It is necessary to understand true philosophy of EBM.
Materials and Methods: Narrative and review of the literature.
Results: EBM is not for research to supplant individual clinical experience and the patients’ informed preference but to integrate these factors with the best available research.
Conclusions: Treatment recommendations are no longer based on level of evidence, but also the risk benefit ratio and cost effectiveness.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

연구 계획: 근거중심의학의 진정한 의미와 임상적 적용을 위한 문헌고찰목적: 근거중심의학의 실체를 파악하고 척추질환환자의 치료에 도움을 주고자 함.
선행문헌의 요약: 근거중심의학이 여러 의료분야에서 광범위하게 적용되고 있으나 개념의 잘못된 이해와 남용이 문제가 되고 있으며 진정한 의미의 근거중심의학을 이해가 요구됨.
대상 및 방법: 문헌고찰결과: 근거중심의학이 새로운 개념의 발전되어 과학적 근거와 임상경험, 환자의 선택 risk benefit ratio, cost 등이 치료방법의 결정 시 고려 되어야 함.
결론: 근거중심의학이 의학발전과 환자 진료에 도움이 되며 이 분야 연구가 지속되어야 될 것으로 사료됨.
