Some remarks were introduced in the closing paragraph of our last number, to show that an intercourse of the Spirit of God with our spirits, is not impossible. But why contend for the possibility of that which is clearly taught in that book, which our opponents profess to receive as the Word of God? In the Scriptures, which form the only sufficient rule both of our faith and practice, and become the arbiter in all controversies involving christian principles, the whole work of salvation in the soul is represented as being wrought by the Holy Spirit.
