Policies from all countries around the world are focused on solving problems such as global warming and reducing greenhouse gas emissions under the climate change agreement.Biofuels such as bioethanol and biodiesel are already competitive in price, and non-liquid alternative fuels such as electricity and hydrogen for transportation can be cheaper than petroleum in the long run. Considering the geographical characteristics of Korea, which has a narrow national territory and a well-developed seaweed farming industry on three sea sides, the production of bioethanol using Seaweed, a raw material for third-generation bioethanol, is most advantageous and suitable. In order to evaluate the utilization of sea algae as biomass resources for the efficiency evaluation of the bioethanol manufacturing process was conducted by comparing the hydrolysis characteristics of the brown algae(Undaria pinnatifida) produced in Korean waters with the yield of the hydrolysis process by Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
