본 논문은 송/수신기 모두에 다수의 안테나를 채용한 다중 안테나 시스템의 기술동향에 대해서 설명한다. 다중 안테나 시스템은 추가적인 주파수나 송신전력 할당 없이도 채널 용량을 안테나 수에 비례하여 증가시킬 수 있다. 본 논
문에서는 다중 안테나 시스템의 이론적으로 증가되는 채널 용량을 살펴보고, 증가된 이론적 채널 용량을 실질적인 통신 성능 개선으로 이끌어 내기위한 다양한 기법들을 소개한다. 다중 안테나 기법들은 크게 송/수신 안테나 수의 곱에해당하는 다이버시티 이득을 얻어 전송 신뢰도를 높이는 공간 다이버시티 기반 방식, 동시에 다수 개의 신호 열을 전송하여 전송률을 높이는 공간 멀티플렉싱 방식, 공간 멀티플렉싱과 다이버시티를 결합한 방식 등으로 나눌 수 있으며 각각에 해당하는 대표적인 연구 결과들을 요약하였다. 또한 다중 안테나 관련 향후 연구 방향에 대한 간략한 전망을 소개한다.
