This experiment was carried out to test agronomic characters and environmental effect of rate of multiple pistillate floret of the multiple pistillate cytoplasmic male sterile(MPCMS) rices. The MPCMS line were bred by backcrossing the multiple pistillate(MP) lines derived from Double Rice and WX154-134 to the cytoplasmic male sterile line V 20A. After growing the MPCMS lines and their maintainer MP lines, heading date, clum length, panicle length, number of panicles per hill and number of florets per panicle were investigated. Rate of multiple pistillate floret of the MP lines grown in day length of 10hr, high temperature of 20℃-38℃ were compared with that of control. Culm length of MPCMS lines were shorter than their maintainer MP lines, however no difference in number of panicles per hill and number of florets per panicle were found in MPCMS and their maintainer MP lines. Heading date of Indica MPCMS lines were earlier than their maintainer MP lines, but no difference were found in Japonica. Panicle length of Japonica MPCMS lines were shorter than their maintainer MP lines, however no difference were found in Indica. Rate of multiple pistillate spikelet of the Indica MPCMS lines grown in natural condition ranged from 54.1% to 97.8% and that of Japonica MPCMS lines from 16.7% to 97.1%. No difference rate of multiple pistillate floret of the MP line were found under 10hr short-day length and high temperature of 20℃ to 38℃ compared with that grown under natural conditions.
