The purpose of this study was to investigate the awareness of dementia among adults in Korea and to analyze differences in awareness of dementia according to demographic and social factors. The study examined dementia attitudes and knowledge scales, as well as awareness of programs to support people with dementia and their families. The survey was conducted using the internet survey, with a sample size of 3,000 people. The main findings of the study were as follows. First, between two sup-dimensions of dementia attitude, respondents showed more positive attitude in understanding of the disease than caring or interacting with patients. People were more positive about dementia as a disease but more negative about interacting with or caring for people with dementia. Second, in the case of dementia knowledge, the level of knowledge about symptoms was lower than in other areas. Third, level of dementia support programs awareness was low overall, and level of awareness on the program for supporting families with dementia patients was particularly low. Fourth, there were significant differences in dementia attitudes and knowledge levels, mainly by dementia education and whether or not there was a family member with dementia.
