Mammography와 Screening mammography에 대한 臨床的 檢討 = A Clinical Study on Mammography and Screening Mammography

The breast cancer in Korea women is ranked at the 3rd of most common cancer, and it is increasing by year. And the mammography is the most useful in diagnosis of breast cancer.
The editors have surveyed and analyzed the statistical data got from the patients who had mammographic examination in the radiologic department and the multiphasic health testing center of Korea University Hospital during the past three years from January, 1992 until December, 1994.
The results were follows;
1. Total number of the patients who had mammographic examination in radiologic department is 1,957 persons. And total number of the testers who had screening mammographic examination in multiphasic health testing center is 7,764 persons.
2. In sex distribution of patients who had mammographic examination, female is 1,947(99.5%) and male is 10(0.5%). In age distribution of patients the thirties took 35.1%, the most, the forties took 30.0%, the second, the age group above fifty 20.1%, and the twenties took 13.8%.
3. By clinical department of patients who had mammographic examination general survey was most common as 75.1% and followed by family medicine( 10.0%), gynecology (4.6%), and gastroenterology (2.5%).
4. Total number of the patients who had the operation on breast is 259 persons. In age-group distribution of patients 46-50 years took 20.8%, the most, 41-45 years took 16.2%, the second, 36-40 years 14.7%, 51-55 years 12.0%, 31-35 years 10.4%, and 56-60 years took 7.3%, respectively.
5. In age distribution of testers who had screening mammographic examination the forties took 29.2%, the most, the fifties took 29.0%, the second, the thirties 25.0%, and the sixties took 7.8%, respectively.
6. In clinical finding of screening mammographic images normalities were 6,980(89.9%), abnormalities were 784(10.1%). Among abnormalities benign breast calcification took 242persons, the most, benign breast mass took 103 persons, the second, fibrocystic change took 89 persons, the third.
