Human behaviors are affected by their contexts. Teaching behaviors and the methods used by the teachers are no exception. This has been proved by previous research. This study surveyed 252 teachers to explore the content of those context. Several questions that explore the reasons to select particular teaching behaviors were designed. Though teachers sometimes showed contrastiong responses according to the question, it has been interpreted as an evidence that show the conflict between belief and the reality. That conflict is assumed to result in stress to the teachers. Through the exploratory factor analysis, seven major factors that hinder the innovation of teaching methods have been identified. They are as follows: 1) magnitude of duty. 2) existence of college enterance examination and norm-reference test, 3) classroom environment, 4) teachers` concerns for the students and their adaptability, 5) climate of teaching profession, 6) teaching tools, and 7) administrative condition. The more influential factors seem to be more direct education context. Other factors were not as strong as that.
