In Korean, the ㅆtype, seen in 15th century conjugated forms with object honorific endings, arises due to the forms in situations where the position of the some phoneme(ㅿ) is unstable might have been based on replacements from previous periods, difficulties in morphological awareness of the stem coda due to neutralization(ㅺ), and discrepancies between expected stem forms from neutralization and conjugated forms with object honorific endings(ㅎ). Verb stems ending in a pure ㅅ sound use the typical ㅅ/ㅅtype as their recognition is clearer.
For verb stems ending in ㅈ (ㅊ) combined with -□-, the final sound becomes ㄷ (ㄷ/ㅈtype) due to historical combining patterns and neutralization. The emergence of the ㅉtype resulted from language users observing the ㄷ/ㅈ alternation, causing potential confusion. The preference for the ㅉtype likely stemmed from the unstable recognition of verb stems. This presents a historical perspective on verb conjugation in Korean.
