한국 도로명의 명명 유연성 연구 - 구심적 도로명과 인명 도로명을 중심으로 - = A Study on the Named Sources of the Korean Street Naming - Focusing on the Centripetal and Anthroponym Street Names -

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This article aims to analyze the governmentality of the named source and the types and features of the centripetal, anthroponym street names intrinsic to new street names which were named under the implementation of the Korean street name address system in 2014. In order to realize the research purpose, I have investigated the official data of over 16,000 street names that have obtained from the Address Policy Section in Ministry of the Interior. As a result, I could arrange the historical development and its context of Korean address system and street naming around the concept of governmentality. Moreover, the types and features of the centripetal street names has been analyzed targeting not only numerical street names, alphabetical street names, cardinal points street names, identity and ideological street names, historical street names, and compound street names according to the governmentality, but also pure Korean street names, English street names, and economical street names related to the identification. And finally, I explained the distribution and trait of the 416 anthroponym street names by designation, region, and gender, which are representing the national and regional identity, nationalism, and ruling ideology. The anthroponym street names form 0.26% of total street names, hence, I identified that traditional naming taboo still subsists in the Korean society. Also, there are the about 3 anthroponym street names commemorating the living figures. Meanwhile, I found out that the around 142 real-name street names and around 274 posthumous-epithet and pen-name street names by designation, that the number of anthroponym street names is higher in Gwangju Metropolitan City and Jeollanam-do Province by region. As well, I confirmed that the about 23 female anthroponym street names capture only about 6% of total antroponym street names by gender. Through this fact, I could identify that severe gender discrimination still continues to exist in Korean place-naming until now.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문의 목적은 2014년 시행된 한국의 새 도로명주소 제도와 그 결과 전국적으로 명명된 도로명을 사례로 명명 유연성의 통치성적 특성과 구심적 도로명의 유형을 살펴보고, 나아가 인명 도로명의 젠더적 명명 특성과 유형을 분석하는 것이다. 연구목적을 실현하기 위해, 행정자치부 주소정책과에서 입수한 공적 자료들에 수록된 약 16만 여건의 도로명 자료를 중심으로 통치성 강화를 위한 구심적 도로명과 인명 도로명의 명명 특성 및 유형을 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 한국 주소 제도 및 도로명 명명의 역사적 전개와 그 맥락을 통치성 개념을 중심으로 정리할 수 있었다. 이어 구심적 도로명을 통치성 개념(숫자 도로명, 가나다 도로명, 방위 도로명, 정체성 및 이념적 도로명, 역사 도로명, 합성 도로명)과 동일시 개념(고유어 도로명, 영어 도로명, 경제 도로명)으로 나누어 그 유형 및 특성을 분석하였다. 마지막으로 국가(지역) 정체성과 민족주의, 지배 이데올로기를 재현하고 있는 약 416건의 인명 도로명을 추출하여 이들의 칭호별, 지역별, 젠더별 분포와 특성을 분석하였다. 인명 도로명은 전체 도로명 중 0.26%만이 해당되어 피휘 사상이 현재까지 존속하고 있음을 알 수 있었으며, 생존 인물을 기념하는 인명 도로명도 약 3건 발견되었다. 칭호별로는 본명 도로명이 약 142건, 시호 도로명이 약 274건이 분포하였고, 지역별로는 광주광역시와 전남에서 인명 도로명이 높게 나타났다. 젠더별로는 여성 인명 도로명이 약 23건으로 전체 인명 도로명 중 약 6%만을 차지하고 있어 심각한 남녀 차별을 보이고 있다.
