새라 코클리의 관상적 자연신학 연구 = Study on Sarah Coakley’s Contemplative Natural Theology

Sarah Coakley suggests neither a natural theology that seeks to prove the existence of God through the evidences of nature by Thomas Aquinas and William Paley, nor a theology of nature that clearly puts theological premises and interprets nature from a theological point of view. Rather she argues that her contemplative natural theology needs moral, intellectual, and spiritual transformation of the cognitive subject in order to see the world as God’s creation and integrate meaning. For exploring her natural theology, firstly, this paper describes the need to explore the evolution of cooperation at various levels other than the genetic level. It then describes the fact that the supernormal, supercooperative phenomenon found in the evolution of cooperation leads to the question of the purpose and direction of evolution, and God. In addition, it deals with her contemplative natural theology, which focuses on the subject of epistemology to be purified through contemplative practice and oriented to God in order to properly see natural phenomena. Finally, we evaluate her natural theology.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본고는 새라 코클리의 신학이 토마스 아퀴나스와 윌리암 패일리의 자연의 증거들을 통해 신존재를 증명하고자 하는 자연신학도 아니고, 신학적전제를 명확히 앞세우며 자연을 신학적 관점에서 해석하는 자연의 신학도아니라, 인식주체의 도덕적, 지적, 영적인 변화를 강변하는 관상적 자연신학임을 제안한다. 이것이 우리가 세계를 하나님의 피조물로 보고 의미를통합할 수 있는 방법이라는 것이다. 본고는 코클리의 자연신학을 탐구하기위해서 우선, 유전자 수준 이외의 다양한 수준에서 협력의 진화를 탐구할필요가 있다는 것을 기술한 후, 협력의 진화에서 발견되는 초정상, 초협력현상은 진화의 목적과 방향성, 신에 대한 질문으로 인도한다는 사실을 기술한다. 또한 자연현상을 제대로 보기 위해서는 인식론의 주체가 관상적 실천을 통해 정화되고, 신께 정향되어야 하는 것을 골자로 하는 그녀의 관상적자연신학을 기술한다. 마지막으로 코클리의 자연신학을 평가한다.
