日本語形容詞「澁い」の多義構造 = The polysemic structure of Japanese adjective "Sibui"

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 일본어 형용사「澁い(sibui)」를 미각의 형용, 태도의 형용, 물건의 움직임 형용, 양태에 대한 평가라는 네 가지 용법으로 나눠 그 의미구조를 고찰 하였다. 그 결과, 「澁い(sibui)」에는 기대되는 사항, 발생한 사태, 평가라는 의미구조 가 존재하는 것을 밝혔다. 즉, 다시 말하면 미각의 형용, 태도의 형용, 물건의 움직임 형용 용법에서의 「澁い(sibui)」는 언어 주체가 기대하는 사항이 원활 하게 전개되는 것을 방해하는 요소가 있고, 그 요소에 의해서 기대와 일치하지 않는 사태가 발생한다. 그 사태에 대한 마이너스(不快) 평가라고 할 수 있다. 양태에 대한 평가의 「澁い(sibui)」도 일반적인 미의식 요소와 일치하지 않는 요소가 있지만 언어 주체의 문화와 경험을 근거로 한 판단 기준에 따른 플러스 (快) 평가라고 할 수 있다. 일본어 형용사「澁い(sibui)」는 이러한 기본구조에 의해서 「澁い(sibui)」의 대상이 확대됨에 따라 전의(轉義)되는 즉, 의미 내용이 변하는 다의어라고 할 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The question I was concerned with in my thesis was to inquire into the meaning structure of the four usages of Japanese adjective, Sibui, which include epithet of taste, epithet of attitude, epithet of the movement of things, and evaluation of the shape. As a result, I illuminated that there exist three meaning structures in Sibui, which are expected matter, occurred situation, and evaluation. In other words, Sibui in the usage of epithet of taste, epithet of attitude, and epithet of the movement of things, has some factors to prevent what the language subject expects to happen from developing smoothly. And the situation which is not in accord with expectation occurs by the disturbing factors. This is likely to undermine that situation, which could mean a minus assessment of the state of affairs. In Sibui of the evaluation of the shape, there are some components that don’t agree with general aesthetic sense. However, it could be categorized as the plus assessment, according to the criteria for judgement based on the language subject’s culture and experience. The Japanese adjective, Sibui, can be seen as polysemous word which has transferred meaning as the object of Sibui expands by such a basic structure.
