The purpose of this study was to find the effect of body type personal training to working women’s physical fitness and work satisfaction.
Thirty nine working women currently attending fitness center were selected. They were divided into 3 groups according to their body types and were given with personalized training program; and their body composition, physical fitness, and work satisfaction were examined to analyze the effect of personalized exercise training.
The results of this study were as following.
For basal metabolic rate, women in 30s and 40s showed significant difference in endomorphic group. For body weight, women in 20s and 40s’ endomorphic and ectomorphic groups showed significant difference; women in 30s showed significant difference in all groups. For lean body mass, 20s’ endomorphic and ectomorphic groups and 30s’ endomorphic and mesomorphic groups showed significant difference. For bodyfat mass, 20s and 30s showed significant difference in every group. For percent bodyfat, 20s and 30s in every group and 40s’ ectomorphic group showed significant difference.
For muscle strength, 20s showed significant difference in grip and back strength in every group. For 30s, endomorphic group showed significant difference in grip and back strength; ectomorphic group showed significant difference in back strength, and mesomorphic group had significance in grip strength. For 40s, endomorphic and ectomorphic groups showed significant difference in grip and back strength. For muscle endurance, 20s’ ectomorphic group, and 30s and 40s’ ectomorphic and mesomorphic groups showed significant difference.
For flexibility, 20s showed significance in every group. 30s’ endomorphic and mesomorphic groups and 40s’ ectomorphic group also showed significant difference. For balance, all ages’ endomorphic and ectomorphic groups showed significant difference.
For work satisfaction, 20s and 30s showed significant difference in every group; however, 40s showed significant difference in endomorphic and ectomorphic groups only.
Putting together the results of these experiments, we could conclude that body-type personal training program has not only enhanced working women’s body composition and physical fitness, but also made positive effect on satisfaction at work.
