외상경험이 기억 억제 과정에 미치는 영향 = A study of the effect of traumatic experience on the inhibitory process in memory

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of traumatic experience on the inhibitory process in memory. One-way ANOVA was used in this study to test the hypotheses. The result of directed forgetting test was successful and the experimental group recalled less words than the control group. It was not statistically significant that this difference was caused by inhibitory process in memory, but it showed the possibility that the decreasing difference between words to be remembered and words to be forgotten may be related to the inhibitory process in memory. The findings provide further understanding of the information processing mechanism in PTSD patients and may be applied to the development of more effective treatments for the disorder.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 여대생들이 경험한 외상과 그에 따른 외상 후 심리적 증상이 기억 억제 과정에 미치는 영향을 지시된 망각 실험 절차를 사용하여 살펴보았다. 결과를 얻기 위해 실험집단과 통제집단의 단어 회상 개수와 단어 회상 개수의 차이에 대해서 일원변량분석을 실시했다. 지시된 망각 과제의 결과는 성공적이었고, 외상 경험이 있는 사람이 없는 사람보다 적은 수의 단어를 기억했다. 이러한 차이가 기억억제 과정에 의한 것이라는 결과는 통계적으로는 유의미하지 않았지만, 기억 지시 단어-망각 지시 단어 회상 개수 차이가 외상경험이 있고, 외상 후 증상이 심해질수록 차이가 적어진다는 결과는 기억 억제 과정에 의한 것일 수 있다는 가능성을 보여주었다. 이 결과들은 PTSD 환자에 대한 기존 연구 결과와 부분적으로 일치하는 것으로 PTSD의 정보처리 과정에 대한 이해를 돕고 PTSD 치료에 필요한 정보를 시사했다는데 의의가 있다고 하겠다.
