      다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In any society, the state is the most concentrated from power of the society. So all classes struggle to procure the political power of the state for its own interests.
In the political science, this problem occupies the most central sphere.
This study attempts to examine Marx and Engels theory of the state.
Their analysis of the state aims at the state in capitalist society.
The state in capitalist society exists only for the interests of bourgeosie of the ruling class within the class as a form the necessity to control various economic interests, the conflicts within the disintegration and confrontation between the classes in the process that society is divided into the classes.
But the regulation of the state is always fulfilled by the economic ruling class which is economically the most powerful class in the society.
This class becomes the political ruling class with the powers of the state, and acquires a new instrument for suppression and exproitation of the oppressed class. This state represents not general interest of the society but special interest of the ruling class. The political power of the state is only systematized force of a class for the purpose of oppressing the other classes.
Marx and Engels regarded the administration of the modern state as the committee which deals with the common affaires of all bourgeosie.
On the other hand, Poulantzas insists that Bonapartism in the typical form of capitalist state and the state has the relative autonomy out of economic sphere.
But Marx and Engels pointed bonapartism as a exceptional phenomenon.
The state is only the domination instrument of the ruling class. Though the state in capitalist society intervense in economic sphere and regulates production to overcome economic crisis, the nature of capitalist state is not changed.
The state in capitalist society is always the instrument of bourgeosie of the class domination, and appears to a symbol of suppression and exploitation to the proletariat.
Consequently, the nature of the state in capitalist society can be thought as domination instrument which is employed to control the societly.
Therefore, Marx insisted that the only society which had a capability of full emancipation of man could wither away the state.
