연구논문 : 초등교원의 전문성 신장에 대한 생애사적 접근 = A Life Historical Study Concerning Expertise Development of Elementary School Teachers

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 초등 교원이 전문성 신장을 위해 경험하게 되는 과정에 관해 알아보고자 출발하였다. 본 연구에서는 생애사 연구가 동질 집단의 사람들이 자신들이 경험하는 바에 의미를 부여하기 위해 공히 차용하고 있는 독특한 서사 유형을 탐색하는데 도움이 된다고 보고 이러한 방법을 통해 초등교원들의 독특한 문화에 접근하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 연구자는 경력 17년, 25년의 두 초등학교 교사로부터 생애사기술 자료와 면접 자료를 수집·분석하였다. 연구 대상인 두 교사의 생애사를 추적해보면 전문성 신장을 위한 자기개발 과정에 있어 독특한 차이를 보인 반면 몇가지 공통된 특성을 보여주고 있다. 전문성의 신장이 ‘상황판단 노력’에 의해 큰 영향을 받고 있으며, 집단적인 경로보다는 교사 개인의 사적인 동기에 의해 좌우되는 경향이 많은 점, 경력 관리로서 현장 연구를 수행해야 한다는 압박감을 크게 느끼고 있다는 점, 전문성의 한계를 인식하여 딜레마에 빠진다는 점, 학생생활지도와 수업이라는 교육 전문성 보다는 보직이나 승진 등 조직 논리에 의한 보상에 의해 더 쉽게 영향을 받는다는 점 등이다. 본 연구 결과는 초등교원의 전문성이 갖는 특수성이 무엇인지, 그리고 그러한 전문성이 어떤 삶의 궤적을 따라 형성되는 지에 대해 시사점을 줄 것이다.

This study focuses on the processes and patterns for expertise development of elementary teachers in their life historical inquiry. For this, we collected and analyzed the life history description data and interview data of two elementary teachers who have been teaching for 17 and 25 years, respectively. These two teachers, who have passions in education, showed some differences in self development process for their expertise development, whereas have common characters in other parts. They are both affected by ``situation judgement effort``, be influenced by private of personal, conduct impatient researching activity in habitual routine, face a dilemma from their limitations of expertise, focuses on the promotion of themselves rather than study for educations and guidances of their students. So, teachers have to develop their expertises via clear educational philosophy and teaching profession through systematic practices.
