This study was focused on exploring the stress factors of the owners and masters who run the Taekwondo gym in the field out of concerns that the status and position of Taekwondo, Korea's representative traditional sports, could deteriorate in the wake of the pandemic era caused by COVID-19. Based on the quantitative method by questionnaire, SPSS factor analysis, reliability test, regression analysis, and process macro statistics were used.
Main results are as follows. The two moderating variables of self-efficacy and social support were found to reduce self-esteem based on interaction with living stress in the case of the master group, but there was no effect on the owner. The Pandemic situation caused considerable living stress in the lives of Taekwondo leaders, and such living stress seems to have worked by a psychological mechanism to resolve cognitive dissonance by causing higher psychological conflicts among masters than owners.
